TORAH DEDICATION

On Friday morning, December 18th Shalom School dedicated an historical Torah from Prestice, Czechoslovakia generously and compassionately procured by Dr. Marvin and Linda Kamras, founders of our School. The Memorial Scrolls Trust in London, England, worked with the Kamrases to have the Torah on permanent loan at our School. The community came to help celebrate this very special day. Our annual Chanukah performances by our students also took place during this celebration event. Please see Torah Dedication pictures in the "Photogallery" under "About Shalom School" on this website. More to come!

Within two days students have raised over $1,100, and within the first week, over $2,000, and as of March 1st, over $5,000!

Shalom Students Celebrate Tel Aviv's 100th Anniversary with Governor Schwarzenegger
Our students, Kindergarten through Sixth Grades, were excited to go to the State Capitol on Tuesday, April 28th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tel Aviv with the Governor. They sang "Rack b'Tel Aviv" ("Only in Tel Aviv") and Governor Schwarzenegger spoke his message of congratulations to the citizens of Tel Aviv which appeared on Israeli television.

WASC accreditation team "wowed" again!

"What you do sets you apart! Dr. Barbara Nemko and Jayna Gaskell visited Shalom School on March 30th for a mid-term review for our six year Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation. They met with students, staff, teachers, alumni, parents and board members. They were "amazed at the projects the kids are doing and that we deal with every part of the child, not what public schools are limited to. This is what school is supposed to be!"

We are very proud of our programs, the dedication of our staff and the achievements of our students, and the difference we can make in a child's life. We thank WASC for affirming this.

New Israel Center Opens at Shalom School
Our campus now has an Israel Center, a classroom dedicated to the major aspects of Israel education. A grant from the Jim Joseph Foundation provided funds for purchasing many items from Israel, including original works of art, DVD's, books, games, etc. that will be experienced by our students in the new learning center.

RELOCATING TO SACRAMENTO?
If you are moving to the Sacramento area we hope you'll consider Shalom School. We have been nurturing and educating children infants to sixth grade for over 30 years. We are accredited by WASC and offer outstanding secular and Hebrew & Judaic programs as well as music, PE, computers, library, art and electives. Our students "grow up" with a deep, internal sense of ethics and values that won't be found at other schools. Welcome to Sacramento, and Shalom!
