Welcome to Parents, Teachers and Friends (PTF)
Volunteers are the livelihood of independent schools like ours!
Mission of the PTF
• Through PTF membership and fundraising, the PTF is able to bring our children educational and enrichment programs, and classroom materials that enhance our students education at Shalom School.
• Promote community spirit through social activity and voluntarism.
Welcoming New Families
At Shalom School we are always thrilled to see our "Family" grow! The classrooms liaison's responsibilities include greeting new parents and families to Shalom School, helping them find their way around the school, and introducing them to other families and staff to help them feel at home in the Shalom School community.
Shalom School Spiritwear
Shalom School's PTF is now partnering with Lands' End to sell high quality clothing with the Shalom School logo. Go to Lands' End School Uniforms to outfit your boys and girls in clothing that meets dress codes and exceeds expectations. Shop online at www.landsend.com/school.
Events
Our annual fundraiser is the Fairytale Town Family Fun Night. This wonderful event is the PTF's major fundraiser of the year which benefits the entire school - Infants- 6th grade.
Box Tops for Education
General Mills has a program that pays cash for specially marked box tops. It's free and easy to collect; do a scavenger hunt with your kids to find Box Top Products! Each class has an envelope for the students to bring in the box tops. The money earned goes directly back to the class.
Scholastic Book Fair
For those not familiar with this Shalom School favorite, it is a week-long event in the Spring during which parents and students can purchase a vast variety of books, including Jewish books. A generous percentage of total amount spent during the fair is returned to Shalom School in books that the teachers and administration choose. The Book Fair is open during the annual Science Fair.
Holiday Programs
PTF helps with the Holiday celebrations in the school by providing volunteers to help set up for the parties and providing the funds to buy the food and decorations.
Staff Appreciation
At Shalom School we have a nurturing and warm environment for our children as well as academic excellence that has enabled many of our graduates to attend accelerated programs and schools across the country. This has been possible due to the outstanding staff, teachers, and leadership at the school. Every year PTF honors the staff and teachers in many ways such as a luncheon provided and staffed by PTF. Each year we like doing something a little different and surprising the teachers and staff with a token of our tremendous gratitude.
Walk-a-thon/Stroller-thon
The Walkathon is an excellent opportunity for the kids to take an active role in supporting the community. The students pick a local charitable organization to raise money for. This is an all morning event in the Spring where the kids get to run an obstacle course and many sport-related activities.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
PTF has always honored Shalom School students who become Bar or Bat Mitzvah. During the ceremony, each student is presented with a special gift purchased by the PTF.
Camperships
PTF provides scholarships for our families who need financial assistance to pay for overnight field trips.
