Judaic Studies
Judaic Studies
Judaic Studies is integrated into both our Hebrew curriculum and our General Studies curriculum. Our K-6 faculty collaborate to make connections between General Studies skills and content standards and Judaic Studies content.
Topics covered during Judaic Studies include:
- Torah stories and Parsha HaShavua (weekly Torah portion)
- Jewish Values
- Jewish History
- Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh and Holidays
- Prayers and their meanings
- Jewish calendar
- Israel - People, Food and Culture
- Tzedakah (charitable giving)
- Tanakh navigation and understanding
Throughout the school year, students take part in a weekly prayer service, engage in celebrations, and observe the Jewish holidays, often welcoming parents and other guests to participate. A highlight of the school week for all students is Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday afternoon with Shabbat blessings, Jewish music, and activities.
